Two sentenced for security guard’s murder

The Mtubatuba High Court handed down the sentences.

TWO men have been sentenced to life behind bars by the Mtubatuba High Court for murder and robbery.

Mxolise Dlamini (25) and Lizwi Mncwango (27), who were charged with the December 2013 murder of 50-year-old security guard Pheneus Sibiya in eSikhawini, appeared in court on Friday.

‘Sibiya was performing his normal duties at Enkanyezini tavern when he was approached by two accused at gunpoint,’ said KZN SAPS spokesperson, Major Thulani Zwane on Tuesday.

‘The accused fatally shot Sibuya before taking all the alcohol inside the tavern. The matter was reported to eSikawini Police for investigation, and within three days the accused we arrested and found in possession of stolen alcohol.’
