THE funeral for slain Empangeni policeman Sergent Niren Ramsaroop was held in Glencoe yesterday.
Commanders and fellow officers from around KZN gathered to pay their respects.
The 40-year-old was shot and killed on Saturday morning in Empangeni during a struggle with an armed robber.
The shooter was also wounded and is being treated in hospital under police guard.
A second suspect, who managed to evade custody, is being sought by police.
Sgt Ramsaroop is survived by his mother and girlfriend.
