UPDATE: Business as usual after fire destroys lodge
A fire gutted the lodge's main building, a double storey timber and thatch structure, in the early hours of Monday morning.

THANKS to quick reaction from Kosi Bay Lodge owners and management, an interim restaurant and bar area, necessitated by the destruction by fire of the main building on Monday, is already up and running, with only finishing touches still to be done.
‘We are using a house and cottage on the property as a temporary restaurant, bar, laundry and reception area until the main building can be rebuilt,’ said the lodge owner.
A fire gutted the lodge’s main building, a double storey timber and thatch structure, in the early hours of Monday morning.
It did not spread to the chalets and remainder of the lodge and by 6am on Monday, electricity and water had been restored.
Although the lodge’s 4×4 and boat keys were lost in the fire, all vehicles were up and running later in the day.
By lunch time on Monday, the lodge was running as usual and plans for the temporary restaurant were in place.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
‘Once investigations are complete, we will replicate the original structure but for the next few months, the interim restaurant and bar will mean it will be business as usual at Kosi Bay Lodge,’ said the owner.
