Two bodies recovered off St Lucia

Two skeletons were recovered off St Lucia on Monday

SEARCH and rescue efforts to recover the bodies of the three victims who drowned on New Year’s Day at St Lucia’s Jabula Beach led to the recovery of two bodies on Monday.

At this stage it is uncertain whether or not the bodies are those of two of the New Year’s Day drowning victims but DNA tests are currently being performed. Mtubatuba SAPS reported the bodies to be ‘skeletons’, making identification difficult.

‘As Mtubatuba Mayor, I would like to convey my sympathy, on behalf of Mtubatuba Municipality, to the families of the drowning victims,’ said Israel Nyawo.

‘It is indeed very sad that people who go out to enjoy themselves end up tragically losing their lives.’
