Wildeweide family held up at gunpoint

Armed robbers storm family's late night supper and flee with jewellery and phones

ASSAULTED, attacked and stabbed during a house robbery in Wildenweide on Saturday night, the family of nine relatives are still trying to come to terms with the traumatic ordeal.
According to Priscilla Varden, her family had spent the evening at her house in Jackalsdraai and as they sat down to dinner at 10.30pm six armed suspects wearing police uniforms entered the dining room and held them up with weapons.
Four of the men had guns, one with a knife and the other a screwdriver.
‘We had barely taken the first spoonful of our food when these men towered over us.

‘It all happened so quickly, a scuffle unfolded, they attacked my husband and son who sustained stab wounds on their hands, legs and stomach.

‘My two young grandchildren got under the table to seek cover and I pleaded with the robbers not to harm them,’ said Varden.
The robbers ripped the gold chains and other jewellery off the family members and took all their cellphones before fleeing.
