Thanda travel to tough mission

Thanda must shake off the blues

AFTER suffering a humiliating 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Highlands Park on Sunday, Thanda Royal Zulu FC have the chance to make amends when they take on Cape Town All Stars at the Athlone Stadium.

But the trip to the Cape will be a tough one, both in terms of kilometres to travel as well as the mental pressure on the players to bounce back.

Amabhubesi’s opponents are riding high, lying third on the NFD log and in the running for the play-offs to PSL promotion.

This match will demand that Thanda shake off their recent poor run of results – not that they have played badly, but their inability to score from numerous attacking opportunities must be overcome.

Coupled with this is the fact they have the worst defensive record in the league, conceding no fewer than 24 goals in 14 matches to date.

There is a lot at stake and the boys will have to be on top form to get back on the winning trail.

On the positive side, they return to two consecutive home games – Vasco da Gama on 23 January and a KZN derby versus Royal Eagles on 30 January.

And with 16 fixtures still to be played this season, a run of wins will drastically change the outlook as the league progresses.
