ROBBERS armed with hammers did a ‘smash and grab’ on two businesses in the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday).
According to the centre’s management, the brazen criminals smashed through the glass doors of jewellery store, Galaxy and Co. and Altech Autopage Cellular at about 1pm, stole jewellery and other goods from the shops and fled the scene.
A security officer patrolling the area at the time was struck by the criminals but did not sustain any injuries.
Employees reporting for duty on Monday were faced with the aftermath of the robbery, in which both premises were ransacked and left with immense damage.
A case was opened at the Richards Bay SAPS.
