Maskandi magic at the Trade Fair
They are now gearing up to make their way to Richards Bay where they will be performing at this year’s Zululand Trade Fair.
HAILING from Empangeni, David ‘Qadasi’ Jenkins and Maqhinga Radebe are an acoustic duo on a quest to revive the powerful sounds of traditional maskandi music.
Both professional musicians in their own right and sharing the same vision, joining forces has resulted in the heart and soul of South African roots music going international.
The SAMA and SATMA Award nominees have taken their fusion of traditional Zulu and western folk music to audiences in the UK, Ireland, Asia and throughout South Africa, and recently released their long awaited collaborative album titled Lashis’ Ilanga.
They are now gearing up to make their way to Richards Bay where they will be performing at this year’s Zululand Trade Fair.
The fair will be held at the ZCBF grounds on Friday, 24 June and Saturday, 25 June.
