Exciting new training programme

Training opportunity for unemployed graduates and students

THE uThungulu Community Foundation (UCF) is to launch a capacity building training programme for unemployed graduates and students in their final year of study.

Starting in October, the highly interactive sessions will run on Saturdays, and will continue for a period of not more than 12 months.

‘Kindly supported by Foskor and other local corporate organisations, the primary purpose will be to help graduates and senior students adjust successfully to the world of work,’ said UCF CEO Chris Mkhize.

‘At the end of the course participants will be required to produce a written portfolio showing evidence of the new skills they have acquired.

‘The course facilitators will be, in the main, retired individuals, selected on the basis of their extensive knowledge of private and public sector organisations and specific skills in the courses offered.

‘In other words, individuals who are able to demonstrate an ability to pass on to young people the valuable skills they acquired.

‘On completion of their training, participants will be able to re-organise their lives and careers, accept self-employment as a career option or prepare themselves appropriately for jobs in the labour market.

‘Above all, participants will be provided with strategies for success, and books and other reading materials that should assist them in their search for a better or brighter future,’ said Mkhize.
