Dagga suspects nabbed near Mkhuze

The bust was carried out following a roadblock on the R22

MEMBERS of Empangeni’s K9 unit made a big drug bust on Thursday night.

At about 9pm, the driver of a white Ford Ranger was pulled over by members of Empangeni’s K9 Unit, following a roadblock on the R22 near Mkuze.

The driver of the vehicle was alone and is believed to be 40-years-old.
King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said members suspected there was something at the back of the motor vehicle.

‘They demanded the driver to open the sail at the back of the motor vehicle and found 30 bags, loaded on top of each other.

‘The bags were searched and their contents were found to be dagga. Each bag weighed about 10kg.

‘The man was arrested and taken to Mbazwane Police Station and appeared in the Mkuze magistrates court on Friday facing charges of possession of dagga,’ said Mdlalose.
