THE Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa’s Zululand branch hosted its annual high tea at the Premier Hotel in Richards Bay on Tuesday morning.

The event which brought together BWA members and non-members, was also attended by ABSA Provincial Manager for Enterprise and Supplier Development, Lefentse Chapman, who was the keynote speaker for the day.

In her address, Chapman emphasised the need to set realistic and achievable goals.

‘You have to first define the success of your plan. You have to give yourself enough time to strategise and then begin with small implementations.

‘Whether in business or in your personal life, make sure it is realistic, measurable and achievable,’ she said.

She further encouraged putting together ‘a signed contract with yourself’, outlining the goals you want to achieve and the challenges you may face.

‘Then go back to that contract whether six or 12 months down the line to see if you have abided by the things set out it in the contract.

Also don’t be afraid to share it with others so they become a source of encouragement in your quest to complete your goals,’ Chapman said.

The high tea was also addressed by life coach Tania Potter, who highlighted the importance of not letting fear deter you from the things you want to achieve.
