Keane on top of his life game

This 13-year-old Grade 7 learner is a busy teen, living each day to the full

RICHARDS Bay Primary School’s Keane Reddy added the Supersport Let’s Play title for August to his impressive résumé, that includes accolades in academics, sport and modelling.

This 13-year-old Grade 7 learner is a busy teen, living each day to the full.

Keane is currently among the top ten in his grade.

He is also a member of the school choir and was a member of the Land Service Club in 2017.

The friendly youngster is a keen sportsman, participating in swimming, rugby, hockey, soccer, cricket, chess, tennis and athletics.

He was selected for the boys hockey team that toured to Utrecht earlier this year, where he achieved three out of seven Man of the Match awards.

But it’s the strategic game of chess that has Keane totally hooked.

He represented South Africa at the junior Commonwealth Games in New Dehli last year, where he placed 47th out of 138 players and achieved his Chess SA FIDE colours.

He represented the Tshwane team earlier this year at the South African junior chess championships in Boksburg, where he won all his games on board two and was the best board and team player.

He was selected for the KZN and South African chess teams from 2013 to 2019.

Keane loves fishing with his granddad, playing soccer with his sister and games on his Playstation 4 in his spare time.

He modelled with the Trelique Modelling Agency from 2009 to 2013 and collected the following titles in Zululand – Mr Scarlet, Mr Junior Africa, Mr Tiny Catwalk Model Search, Mr Tiny Enchanted, Mr Tiny Youthking, Mr CANSA Relay Walk for Life, Mr Junior Zululand and Mr Tiny SA.

Keane will be going to BirdsView Academy next year to begin his high school career.

‘I am nervous about going to a new school, but luckily a number of my friends are also going there, which should make the transition easier.’

His future goals are to gain selection for the KZN U14 hockey team next year and he wants to make the top ten in his grade.
