Road closure owing to protest action in Richards Bay CBD
The strike action is in connection with contractual issues between the district municipality and WSSA
THE road in front of the King Cetshwayo district municipal offices in Richards Bay is closed owing to striking workers.
The strike action is in connection with contractual issues between the district municipality and WSSA, and those striking are WSSA employees who say they have not been paid.
The district municipal manager is addressing the crowd, and police are on scene to ensure law and order and public safety.
The issue began in July when the contract between King Cetshwayo District Municipality and WSSA was terminated.
At the time there were severe water delivery disruptions as the district municipality accused WSSA employees of denying access to municipal and Umgeni Water employees to provide the services.
