While its roots might be firmly anchored in Brazil, but Wyda Packaging South Africa is spreading its wings to serve up top quality aluminium foil products and services to the African continent. As the largest in its field in South America, Wyda Brazil decided to expand to other, compatible markets in 2016. In March that year, Wyda Packaging South Africa was established in Johannesburg as the business’ first foreign subsidiary outside Brazil.
BEYOND FOIL
Carlos Schütte, managing partner of Wyda SA says, ‘We started our venture in South Africa in collaboration with our Brazilian partners, to produce packaging that preserves the quality of its intended content.’ Wyda SA focuses on the production of disposable aluminium foil containers in various shapes. It also supplies light and heavy-duty aluminium foil for the food products and catering industry. The company can call on Wyda Brazil, which produces various PVC products from cling-wrap to household gloves, should clients require additional products. ‘While our products are locally manufactured, we can rely on our partners in Brazil and their in-depth expertise when it comes to production, range and new products,’ Schütte adds.
STRATEGICALLY POSITIONED
Wyda’s key advantage in Brazil and South Africa lies in its strategic procurement of raw materials, product agility, sales schedules and accurate logistics. With turnover increasing by 500 per cent compared to the previous financial year, Wyda South Africa moved last year to a 800m2 complex to house offices, production and warehousing in Spartan, Kempton Park. The move will cater for further expansion plans, improve logistics and optimise production that currently stands at a maximum capacity of 120 000 to 150 000 units per day.
Online Factory Outlet
In October this year Wyda SA launched an online factory outlet www.shop.wyda.co.za for companies requiring smaller quantities. All aluminium foil products as well as PCV cling film and cutlery sets are now available online for convenient shopping, safe card payments and countrywide delivery.
