Trees planted at local schools in wake of Arbor Month

Two hundred trees were planted and donated to a total of ten schools located in the Mthonjaneni, uMlalazi and Nkandla municipalities.

Honouring its pledge to plant thousands of trees across the King Cetshwayo district, Mayor Lindokuhle Phungula recently led tree planting ceremonies at various schools.

Two hundred trees were planted and donated to a total of ten schools located in the Mthonjaneni, uMlalazi and Nkandla municipalities.

Some of the schools visited by the mayor, deputy mayor and council speaker were Sgananda Primary School, Isandlwana, Nongamlana and Emoyeni high schools.

A total of 6 000 trees have been donated by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental conservation and to mitigate the impact of climate change.
