It’s time to post your Christmas mail, says the SA Post Office
This is to make sure the parcels reach their intended destinations in time for the festive season.

With festive season around the corner and mail volumes increasing, the SA Post Office has urged the public to start sending their Christmas mail to loved ones abroad.
This is to make sure the parcels reach their intended destinations in time for the festive season.
‘All air mail items to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and United States of America must be posted by 3 December. Surface mail items to these destinations must be posted by 5 November.
‘Items to certain African countries must also be posted by 3 December. Road transport is the only means of transportation available to these countries,’ said Post Office spokesperson Johan Kruger.
Those who plan on sending parcels are urged to secure the contents and use padding if the contents are loose as they will be transported in bulk.
‘All parcels to foreign destinations are X-rayed to check for illegal and prohibited goods.
‘No jewellery or cash, animals or plants, medication, or illegal substances such as drugs may be posted. These items require permits for import,’ said Kruger.
‘Customers must add a mobile phone number for the delivery address. This enables the destination post office to inform the customer that there is a parcel ready for collection.’
