Severe weather forecast for Zululand region

Areas to be affected include King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude and Zululand districts

THE SA Weather Service has issued a level 5 severe weather alert to affect parts of KZN, including the Zululand region, this afternoon and evening (Thursday).

The warning is valid from 2pm to 11pm.

Scattered showers and thunder showers, with some thunderstorms expected to be severe and accompanied by heavy downpours, strong damaging winds, hail and excessive lightning are expected.

Areas to be affected include King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude and Zululand districts.

Impacts include lightning incidents, hail damage to vehicles and infrastructure, as well as falling trees, damage to informal settlements, and flooding of roads and low-lying areas.

Motorists are reminded to reduce speed on wet roads and in areas of poor visibility, increase following distance and switch on headlights.
