WATCH: New Year’s Day road traffic accidents keep emergency services busy

By 3pm, three accidents - one fatal - had been reported in the region

THREE people lost their lives and three sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident on the N2 in the Mtubatuba area earlier today (Saturday).

A bakkie carrying passengers reportedly lost control.

The accident occurred at about 2pm.

The injured patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care.

In Richards Bay, one person sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle roll-over on the R619 between the eNseleni bridge and Aquadene robots.

The accident occurred at about midday.

Emergency services were on scene to treat the injured patient.

At about 2.15pm, two vehicles collided on the John Ross at the Greenhills intersection on the Meerensee-bound carriageway.

All emergency services attended, including City of uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue, but injuries did not appear to be too serious.
