Burst water pipe affects parts of Mtuba

Interrupted water supply due to failed water infastructure.

The uMkhanyakude District Municipality has confirmed a water pipe burst on Wednesday which affected water supply in parts of Mtubatuba.

The municipality’s head of communications, Mdu Dlamini said the affected areas were Nordale, KwaMsane and St Lucia.

‘As the municipality we have fixed that and people will start getting water as from 6pm on Thursday,’ Dlamini said.

He could not confirm where the water pipe had burst but said the municipality’s technicians were on Thursday ‘busy on site and they are battling with the network’.

Residents from Mtubatuba had complained about not having water, with some taking to social media to complain that they have been without water for five days in KwaMsane.

Meanwhile, residents of Ward 5 in Mtubatuba were without water for four days after the theft of cables at the Mfolozi pump station.
