Help Richards Bay police bless underprivileged school children

SAPS lends a helping hand to the community

Through its school shoe project, Richards Bay police station aims to donate 203 pairs of school shoes to pupils at Sitholinhlanhla Primary School in Mzingazi.

The initiative, which kicked off last month, saw Saps members rally to donate new shoes, and invite families and community members to join.

Richards Bay Saps communications officer Debbie Ferreira said they have encouraged CPFs and the business community to pledge their support for the delivery on 25 February.

While donations of shoes and funds have been trickling in, they still have a long way to go to meet their target.

‘Pupils attend school with no shoes, tight shoes, or shoes in a very poor condition,’ said Ferreira.

‘Youngsters are already facing many challenges and we do not want them to have to worry about this uniform requirement as well.

‘We want to ensure the children have shoes they can wear with pride and be comfortable in.’

Anyone who would like to support this project can contact Captain Debbie Ferreira on 031 3256687 or email Ferreiradebbie@saps.gov.za
