A fond farewell to Richards Bay’s ‘Uncle Theuns’
Veldenvlei Primary School's 'Uncle' Theuns Snyman bids farewell after 18 years of service

Staff, pupils and their families were downhearted to see Veldenvlei Primary School’s bus driver and factotum Theuns Snyman leave after 18 years of service at the school.
Uncle Theuns as he is affectionately known, joined the Veldenvlei Primary family in January 2003.

While he enjoyed all aspects of his work, the school bus was his pride and joy, and he always kept it in tip-top shape.
His day would start at 6am every day, with driving the bus routes to pick up the pupils.
A ‘Jack of all trades’, Theuns was always willing to assist wherever he could.
On extremely busy days, he went without lunch or tea until all his work had been done.
Veldenvlei Primary is really going to miss their Uncle Theuns who, apart from being a hard worker, was described by his colleagues as loyal and upbeat even when things were difficult.
With his gentle, engaging nature, Uncle Theuns always treated the staff members, pupils and ground workers with great respect.
The school wishes Uncle Theuns good health, happiness and success for the future and blessings as he enters the next chapter of his retirement life.
