Protesters torched and looted a vegetable truck during their protest on the R66
Scores of angry residents and St Francis Hospital staff blocked the R66 at the Mayiwane area this morning (Friday).
The protesters blocked the Nkonjeni and Mahlabathini intersection near St Francis Hospital.

They are demanding for the independence of their hospital to be independent.
These protesters setalight a vegetable a truck and looted the truck.
These protestors argued that they were very furious following an empty promises given to them by the Health Department in Zululand to meet them last Friday.
During our first meeting, our district management promised to meet with us on Friday, but that did not happen.
‘The meeting was postponed for this coming Wednesday. This was done without concern.
‘We view this as a delaying strategy to meet with our delegation for discussion,’ one of the protestors said.
Attempts to get comments from the KZN Department of Health was unsuccessful. The Zululand Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said their members are monitoring a situation and no arrest has been made yet
