The men arrived at the RUSA headquarters on Monday morning, seeking assistance after they were scammed separately by a female with the account name ‘Miss Collins’.
One victim paid R15 500 of the R45 000 requested by the woman while the second paid R3 000 via the MonPay app.
According to the men, they were chatting to a South African woman on Instagram and were introduced to a person on the same social media platform, who was investing small amounts of money for clients.
They were promised high returns on a minimum investment of R1 000.
When the money was paid the female made contact, asking for more money before the interest was paid out.
Since Friday, both men have lost R18 500 in the scam, paid to accounts from two different banks.
The suspect has a New Jersey, USA location on her Instagram profile and uses the number +1 (571) 645-5547.
A criminal case has been registered with Saps for investigation.
