SA Weather Service (SAWS) says widespread rain and thunder showers are expected as a result of the cut-off low that has developed over the northern parts of the country and is moving east.
Some stations in the system’s path have already recorded significant rainfall over the past 24 hours.
More than 200mm is expected over KZN coastal regions.
As a result of already saturated ground, these conditions could result in severe impacts.
SAWS urges citizens to stay indoors where possible, and to avoid low-level crossings and low-lying areas.
