KwaMsane Saps spokesperson Captain Sibusiso Mkhize said the officers stopped and searched a suspicious-looking vehicle.

‘The vehicle contained three occupants including the driver – one male and two females. During a search of the vehicle, a firearm loaded with ammunition was found underneath the driver’s seat.

‘The firearm’s serial number had been filed off.

‘Our preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was out on bail. We discovered he had been arrested previously for armed robbery and was out on bail. He was granted bail just a few days ago,’ said Mkhize.

The suspect appeared at KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court last Thursday and is expected to reappear at the same court on Friday, 27 May for a formal bail application.
