Mtubatuba police hunt for business robbers

These included seven computers believed to have been stolen from the law firm.

MTUBATUBA police arrested one suspect, while three others managed to escape, following the robbery of a law firm in town last month.

Police spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said 32-year-old Thulani Jaca was arrested on 23 June after being found in possession of suspected stolen items.

These included seven computers believed to have been stolen from the law firm.

Jaca appeared in Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on 27 June and was remanded in custody, with his next court appearance on 8 July.

Hlabisa said police are searching for three other suspects who managed to get away on the day of Jaca’s arrest.

He said, thanks to the public who alerted the police about a suspicious vehicle, it is now known that the suspects used a vehicle hired elsewhere in the province with false number plates.

“We are still trying to trace the person who hired that vehicle,” Hlabisa said.

“We encourage members of the public to continue working with the police so that we can bring criminals to book.”
