BLACK Horses are the proud new owners of the tea garden, restaurant and functions venue at Whistling Woods.
New owner, Honey Tembe is no stranger to Zululand, having lived in the area for many years, working as a Director at the Department of Agriculture.
Passionate about gardening, as well as hospitality and events planning, Honey bought a farm in Vryheid in 2014 which she converted into a four-star lodge. The lodge boasts 15 chalets that can accommodate up to 40 guests.
The farm bred black horses, which inspired her to name the lodge ‘Black Horses’.
Honey took over the tea garden/restaurant at Whistling Woods towards the end of the year. Trading under the name Black Horses, the brand, which is already firmly established in Vryheid, is set to become well-known in Zululand, too.

Set within the lush gardens of Whistling Woods, the lawns are spacious enough to host multiple events simultaneously. Children can play freely in the large play area and, on a hot summer’s day, the sparkling swimming pool offers a cool haven.
The restaurant/tea garden boasts well-experienced chefs. The menu offers a wide variety of decadent food and drinks. Order a slice of Christmas fruit cake with a coffee, or try one of their signature homemade sandwiches. Black Horses’ oven baked pizza is already famous among patrons, and the braai meat platter is highly recommended.

Monday to Saturday: 9am – 7pm
Sunday: 9am – 5pm
