Richards Bay Coal Terminal plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life within the local communities in which the terminal operates and where RBCT employees reside.

An amount of R350 000 was donated to Amangwe Village towards early childhood developmentRBCT’s aim is to promote the development of self-reliant communities and to facilitate sustainable community development programmes that deliver social value.

In 2022, RBCT conducted various CSI initiatives. These initiatives included a food parcel drive, soft skills training to some of our local schools and the construction work at Mfaniso Secondary School at Dondotha, KwaMbonambi. The building of five classrooms, kitchen and storage room, to the value of R2.4 million, formed part of RBCT’s major 2022 school project.

In addition, RBCT donated a total of R1 .7 million to 31 NPOs within the district. RBCT partners with these local NPOs to spread and accelerate the reach and impact in our local communities.

The total CSI spend for 2022 was R4.6 million.
