Adcock Ingram OTC Pharmacy of the Week: Umhlatuze Pharmacy

Local community-driven Umhlathuze Pharmacy answers a Q&A on being recognised as Adcock Ingrams OTC’s Pharmacy of the Week.

How do you feel about being selected as Adcock Ingrams OTC’s Pharmacy of the week?

It’s a real honour for our team to be recognised as Adcock Ingram OTC’s Pharmacy of the Week. Community pharmacy is very much a team effort, and this recognition reflects the dedication of everyone in the pharmacy who works hard every day to help our patients. What makes it especially meaningful is that community pharmacies play such an important role in accessible healthcare. For us, it’s about being available, offering trusted advice, and helping people manage their health in a practical way. Recognition like this motivates us to keep raising the standard of care we provide to our community.

What keeps your pharmacy focused on serving the community?

Community pharmacy is built on relationships. We often see our patients more regularly than many other healthcare providers, which allows us to really understand their health needs and challenges. That’s why we try to offer more than just medicines. Through our pharmacy clinic and the extended scope of our PCDT pharmacist, we are able to assist patients with vaccinations, minor ailments, health advice, and preventative care. Our aim is to make healthcare as accessible as possible and to help people take a more proactive approach to their health. If we can help someone manage a condition early or prevent illness altogether, that’s a win for both the patient and the community.

As Umhlatuze Pharmacy Group, we are uniquely positioned to make healthcare more accessible, and we are proud to play a role in improving the health and wellbeing of the community we serve.

How has your partnership with Adcock Ingram OTC helped you serve your community?

Having strong partnerships with trusted companies like Adcock Ingram OTC helps us provide better care to our patients. Their products are well known and reliable, which makes it easier for us to recommend effective over-the-counter treatments for many everyday health concerns. In community pharmacy, patients often come to us first before seeing a doctor. Having access to trusted OTC solutions allows us to assist them immediately, while still providing professional guidance through pharmacist consultations and clinic services when needed. Partnerships like this ultimately help us strengthen the role of the pharmacy as an accessible healthcare destination in the community.
