RAM Ready Mix: 3 tips to identify a concrete scam

Scammers infiltrate the concrete industry

As South Africans navigate the difficult economic climate, RAM Ready Mix continues to offer its customers value for money.

While people look for budget-friendly concrete, this has given rise to scammers who are offering lower prices without delivering on their promises.

Concerned about the increase in scams within the concrete industry, RAM Ready Mix urges the public to remain vigilant.

Three tips to identify a scam:
1. Verify before paying: While you might be eager to make the purchase, ensure it is a registered company with a physical address, official contact details, and search for customer reviews.

2. Ask for at least three concrete specifications: Legitimate suppliers should easily be able to provide concrete strength, slump requirements, quantity supplied and product specifications. Failure to do so could indicate a scam.

3. Avoid upfront payments: If a supplier refuses to provide an invoice but demands full payment upfront or offers a large discount for immediate cash payment, these behaviours are a red flag. Consumers are urged to trust their gut.
