Tronox Women’s Month 2026 | Give to Gain: When someone believes in you, everything changes
Tronox believes in the potential, skills, knowledge, and leadership of South African women. This belief is creating a ripple effect across the company, with 417 women making up 22.58% of Tronox South Africa's workforce.
Sometimes, all it takes to change a life is for someone to believe in your potential. A bursary. A mentor who takes the time to answer your questions. A supervisor who sees what you’re capable of before you do. An opportunity to learn a new skill. These moments may seem small, but they have the power to change the course of a career, and often, a life.
Representation of Women at Tronox
That belief is creating a ripple effect across Tronox. Today, 417 women make up 22.58% of Tronox South Africa’s workforce, contributing their skills, knowledge and leadership across our operations. Across KZN Sands and Namakwa Sands, 61 women were participating in structured development programmes in 2025, including Professional-in-Training and Technician-in-Training programmes, internal and external bursaries, leadership development, mentoring and coaching initiatives.

Behind these numbers are women whose lives are being transformed through opportunity. For Betty Manhe, it meant finding the confidence to thrive as a diesel mechanic in a traditionally male-dominated environment. For Charlin Appels and Nosipho Gama, bursaries have opened doors to new possibilities.

Fanele Thandaza’s journey has taken her from mining the product to helping move it across the world through logistics. Lana de Waal has experienced the power of mentorship, while Noxolo Mpontshane is embracing the responsibility of being her team’s brother’s keeper as she grows into her career as an electrician.

Each woman has her own story, but they all share one common thread: someone believed in them and invested in their potential.
At Tronox, learning and development are a long-term commitment to growing people. When employees are given opportunities to learn, they build confidence, discover new possibilities and become leaders, mentors and role models who inspire others. That is the true meaning of “Give to Gain”.
When we invest in one woman, we invest in her family, her colleagues, her community and the future of our business.
The knowledge she gains is shared, the confidence she builds inspires others, and the opportunities she receives create a ripple effect that strengthens our people, our business and the communities we serve.
