10 dead in N2 Pongola crash

Fatal accident involving a bakkie and a truck

EIGHT adults and two children have been killed in an accident involving a bakkie and a truck on the N2 near Pongola.

Another child sustained critical injuries and has been transported to hospital for further medical care.

The accident occurred just after 3.30pm between Pongola and Itshelejuba in northern KZN.

According to KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson Robert McKenzie, the bakkie was transporting schoolchildren when the collision occurred.

The cause of the incident will be investigated by police.
