This will consist of empowerment workshops that connect youth with the film, TV and new digital media and content industries, while showcasing career opportunities in the sector.

The free-to-attend workshops also provide training, mentorship and internship opportunities focusing on film and content production and how to monetise ideas and content.

Targeting students aged18 and 35 from previously disadvantaged communities, the programme covers topics including directing, performance, story and conceptualisation, production, editing and animation, among others.

Registration is open for the two-day filmmaking and acting workshop on 8 and 9 October in Sedibeng; then on the West Rand on 22 and 23 October; Ekurhuleni on 5 and 6 November; and Tshwane on 26 and 27 November.

The Johannesburg regional session takes place in January 2023.

Participants are required to reside in the township/city hosting the event and have a valid Matric Certificate. To register, visit https://joburgfilmfestival.co.za/youngvoices
