New regional executive manager at KZN Sassa

KZN Sassa communications manager Sandy Godlongwana said Mzobe brings a wealth of experience to the position

KWAMASHU resident Thamo Mzobe has been appointed as the new regional executive manager for the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) in KZN, effective this month.

KZN Sassa communications manager Sandy Godlongwana said Mzobe brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served 28 years in the public service – of which 16 have been in senior management in the social development portfolio.

“In 1994, she joined the Department of Education in KZN where she held various positions including teacher, head of department, and principal,” Godlwana said.

“She then joined the KZN Legislature as deputy director in 2006, joining the KZN Department of Social Development as chief of staff the following year, and later as director.

“As an astute executive, her strategic leadership qualities were identified in 2012 and she was appointed to the helm of the National Development Agency (NDA) in KZN.”

In 2013, Mzobe was promoted to NDA national office as senior manager of stakeholder relations, a post she held for three years before moving to CEO and now her latest post.
