Dagga smugglers nabbed in N2 stop-and-search

Five nabbed for possession of dagga

FIVE suspects were arrested on Tuesday morning after being found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R100 000.

All suspects are expected to appear before the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).

King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase said the five were arrested during a stop-and-search operation conducted by the SAPS VPO Seaborderline unit.

“The operation was conducted on the N2 near eNseleni’s old railway station. A white Ford Ranger double cab was found with about 20 bags of dagga during the operation,” said Shangase.

“Five suspects, aged between 20 and 28 years old, were arrested on the spot. Our preliminary investigation indicates they were coming from Eswatini and were on their way to Durban.”
