Programme brings dynamic leadership to schools

This is after the PIRLS results revealed that the country's youth need assistance

ONGOING educational challenges have prompted the Citizen Leader Lab to visit Richards Bay in October.

This is after the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) results revealed that the country’s youth need assistance.

This dynamic school leadership programme links public schools with private sector businesses to tackle multi-faceted educational challenges.

Principals from the schools are paired with business leaders for a 12-month comprehensive journey in leadership.

“When school principals are adept at leadership, they are better able to support their teaching staff,” explains Audrey Jones, the Citizen Leader Lab’s regional manager for KZN.

“This leads to improved teacher morale and motivation, and more innovation. The learners benefit from a more conducive and enriching learning environment.’’

The dynamic pairing is overseen by accredited coaches who ensure all participants receive guidance, support, and crucial positive change for the school and community.

This is also an opportunity for Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) to grow and gain valuable insight beyond daily operations.

“This programme allows business leaders to hone their leadership skills in the complex, real-world setting of a South African public school.

“As the business leader navigates the education system alongside a school principal, they have the opportunity to refine their ability to lead.

“These lessons in leadership are transferable, contributing to their growth as influential, conscious leaders within their respective industries,’’ added Jones.
