Hefty bail for truck driver charged with theft of minerals

A truck driver charged with theft of minerals has been granted R50 000 bail

A truck driver charged with theft of minerals and being in possession of an electronic jamming device was granted R50 000 bail in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The accused, Mlungisi Nxumalo, was arrested on 8 April at the eNseleni station while off-loading minerals that were meant to be delivered to the Richards Bay harbour.

He deviated from his route with the minerals and was found with an electronic jamming device plugged inside the vehicle, which is believed to have been used to lose signal of the truck’s tracking device.

He is expected to report to the Richards Bay Police Station once a week as part of his bail conditions and will be back in court on 2 May.
