Funnyman Mmangaliso Mhlongo is back in Empangeni this month

A year after he left Zululanders in stitches during the Tea on the Terrace event, funnyman Mmangaliso Mhlongo is back in Empangeni this month.

27 September as part of his national tour.

“People will get to know me because I touch on various topics. There will be loss, love, heartbreak, and how I view life.

“The Zululand audience has always been so good to me and I implore them to come through – let’s laugh together,” said Mmangaliso.

He’s known for his act which analyses being raised by a strict mother, poverty, and his general take on life.

He was mentored by top comedian Simphiwe Shembe and works with other national comedians including award-winning funnyman Sifiso Nene.

Mmangaliso made a name for himself when he opened for Barry Hilton, further making his mark when he wrote and delivered a one-man show dedicated to his mother, titled Mama’s Boy, which filled the Unizulu Chapel in 2018.His one-man show, Entanglement, was taken on a national tour with the award-winning Skhumba Hlophe.

He continues to work with Siyanda Maphumulo, Sifiso Nene, Justice Kubheka, Kamz Govender, Darryl Williams, and Felicia Pillay, to name a few. He also led a group of Durban comedians as part of the Durban Curry Comedy show at Zululand Yacht Club, and according to many, his ability to work with various audiences from different backgrounds and races is what sets him apart.
