WATCH: Shoring up continues at Alkantstrand

Beach readiness in Richards Bay continues ahead of upcoming festive season

Work to shore up of the beach directly in front of the lifeguard building at Richards Bay’s Alkantstrand is continuing as earth-moving equipment is again on the beach this Tuesday morning.

After truckloads of rocks were delivered to the beach last week in an apparent effort to safeguard the recently-renovated lifeguard building, those rocks are now being set in place.

The rocks will all be placed between the building and the beach, after which geobags will be placed.

This as the paving directly in front of the lifeguard building, re-laid in recent months, has already begun to collapse as the power of wind and waves take their toll.

Work began last Tuesday, and is believed it is being carried out as part of beach readiness ahead of the festive season.
