Hot, wet summer on the cards for Zululand region
Minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be above-normal countrywide for the forecast period.
While predictions may change when summer takes hold, the long-range weather forecast of above-average rainfall for north-eastern parts of South Africa remains in place.
This as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is currently still in a neutral state and is predicted to weaken further.
Current predictions indicate the development of a weak La Niña state during the start of the summer season, according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS) climate watch report, adding that there is still significant uncertainty in the predictions.
“It is advisable to monitor the ENSO system during the start of the summer season, as it may change the rainfall outlook for the summer rainfall regions if and when La Niña materialises,” said the report.
Minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be above-normal countrywide for the forecast period.
