WATCH: Community protests over service delivery failure
uMfolozi residents who have been without electricity for almost two weeks blocked the N2 in protest on Wednesday night
RESIDENTS of Ward 11 under uMfolozi Municipality took to the N2 late last night (Wednesday) to protest over a lack of service delivery.
Gathering at the uMfolozi off-ramp, the protesters were angry at having had no electricity for two weeks, which has reportedly resulted in a lack of water supply as the pump at the borehole in the Mfolozi River cannot function without power.

The electricity outage said to have hit the residents between 27 and 28 October was reportedly caused by storm damage.
Confirming that the N2 was completely blocked on Wednesday night, Ward Councillor PM Gumbi said another complaint by residents is that since there is no water, the district municipality does not have sufficient water tankers to assist them.
He said Eskom had undertaken to address the protesters.
King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase said the SAPS had a presence at the protest but that no cases have been opened so far.
Shangase said traffic was flowing on Thursday morning in the vicinity where the protest broke out, while Gumbi confirmed that police are monitoring the situation.
