“We acknowledge the tremendous challenges faced by the Class of 2024; the closure of schools, the shift to remote learning, and the uncertainty of those early years were significant obstacles that tested their resilience.

“Despite these setbacks, the pupils demonstrated unwavering commitment and perseverance, overcoming adversity to reach this pivotal moment in their educational journey,” he said.

Additionally, Dlamini said the municipality recognises the importance of supporting these youngsters in the next phase of their lives.

“In line with our commitment to education, the municipality has set aside a special budget for registration bursaries to assist matriculants with enrolment at universities.

“We are dedicated to ensuring our youth have the resources and opportunities to continue their studies and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of our region,” said Dlamini.

Application forms for bursaries are available at the King Cetshwayo District Municipality office, as well as at the five local municipalities within the district; City of uMhlathuze, uMfolozi, uMlalazi, Mthonjaneni and Nkandla municipalities.

“We encourage all eligible matriculants to apply before 24 January and seize the opportunity to further their education,” he said.
