Grass-cutting frustration for city residents

Residents voice frustration over service delivery failures in the City of uMhlathuze

City of uMhlathuze residents have again voiced their frustration with, not only the delays in refuse collection, but also the overgrown grass on verges and along walkways in various suburbs.

While the municipality is making efforts to address what many have called ongoing service delivery failures, residents continue to express anger over the lack of overall maintenance across the city.

Following a meeting with the acting city manager (CM) and senior officials, Deputy Mayor Christo Botha said they are working on various plans to address the lack of service delivery.

“I had a meeting with the acting CM this [Monday] morning following his meeting earlier with the senior officials of the Parks Department.

“I told him there is huge frustration among councillors and the public with the current lack of service delivery, focusing in this meeting on the lack of grass cutting, overgrown verges and the general condition of parks.

“A different way is needed in the way grass cutting is done and it requires a multi-functional approach,” said Botha.
