Weather warning: more thundershowers ahead for Zululand region
Significant rainfall is expected in northern parts of KZN, communities urged to exercise caution

Disruptive rains are expected to persist over parts of KZN this (Wednesday) morning until tomorrow (Thursday) evening.
While some areas have experienced light rainfall since yesterday evening, the SA Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an orange level 5 warning for widespread showers and thundershowers over northwestern parts of the province.
The wet weather conditions are expected to affect various districts, including uMkhanyakude, King Cetshwayo and Zululand.
“Significant rainfall of up to 100mm is expected in places over the northern parts, as well as along the coast and adjacent interior of KZN tomorrow, which may lead to flooding as well as significant impacts. The flooding may extend until Thursday morning in places,” said SAWS.

Disruption of essential services such as water and electricity is expected together with major disruption to traffic flow due to roads being flooded.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution on wet roads, and are warned against crossing low-lying roads and bridges.
Switch on headlights, reduce speed and increase following distance from the vehicle ahead to ensure safety on the roads.
Meanwhile, a yellow level two warning for widespread showers and thundershowers is also predicted for southwestern parts of KZN, with rainfall accumulation of at least 40mm expected.
