Alleged ‘hitman’ case to be decided on

The man charged with the murder of the late uMkhanyakude District councillor, Innocent ‘Killer’ Mkhwanazi is due back in court in May

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is yet to decide whether or not the case of an alleged hitman charged with the murder of the late uMkhanyakude District councillor, Innocent ‘Killer’ Mkhwanazi can be transferred to the High Court.

This after Mthenjwa Buthelezi appeared in the Mtubatuba District Court last week where the matter was postponed to 30 May.

Buthelezi, who faces a litany of charges which include conspiracy to murder, murder and illegal possession of an automatic rifle, was previously denied bail by the same court.

The accused has two other pending cases at KwaMsane SAPS, one of the attempted murder of two police officers and another of murder for the fatal shooting last year of a councillor from kwaNongoma.
