Small trees celebrated in big way
The Zululand Bonsai Society plans to celebrate World Bonsai Day in a big way
Join the Zululand Bonsai Society as they commemorate World Bonsai Day with a plant and sip event in Richards Bay.
For just R150 per person, those interested in learning about the art of bonsai will get a custom ceramic pot, plant and soil, mimosa, coffee and tea, and a muffin.
The commemorative event is set to be held on Saturday, 10 May at 39 Krewelkring, Meerensee.
Registration is from 9.30am, with proceedings getting under way from 10am and running until 11.30am.
About World Bonsai Day
Established in 2010, the day honours bonsai master Saburo Kato, who founded the World Bonsai Friendship Federation in Japan in 1989, as well as promoting the art of bonsai worldwide.
Kato said, by nurturing bonsai, people learn the essence and dignity of life, and life becomes more meaningful.
“The love one has for bonsai then expands to encompass nature in all its many forms. This is the spirit and the power of bonsai,” Kato is recorded to have said.
