Mayor faces irate Empangeni residents at packed public meeting

City of uMhlathuze mayor and senior officials respond to Ward 23 service delivery complaints

WARD 23 residents got what they demanded when Mayor Xolani Ngwezi and city manager Phakama Mhlongo attended a public meeting this week.

A call that drew over 100 residents, along with 20 politicians, DCMs (district city managers) and city officials to the Empangeni Civic Centre on Wednesday night.

Issues raised at the previous meeting on 15 May were responded to by various DCMs, which was followed by a question-and-answer session allowing further community voices to be heard.

The meeting was organised by ward 23 Cll Andre de Lange (standing)

Nontsundu Ndonga discussed city development, Zilindile Masango spoke on community services, Sibusiso Ngcobo covered technical and infrastructure services, and Dolf Marais addressed electricity issues, while city CFO Mxolisi Kunene discussed the municipal budget.
