Zululand guiders prepare with a purpose

Guides and Boy scouts attend annual residential camp in KwaMbonambi

Zululand’s Guides and Boy Scout troops recently attended the annual residential camp hosted at KwaMbonambi Primary School.

Alongside the hosts, the participating schools were Umdlamfe Secondary, and Ngqamzana and Thembelihle primary schools.

The exciting camp was facilitated by seasoned rangers Mr Cele, Mr Mavuso, Mr Mlondo, Mrs Kunene (regional commissioner of the Girl Guides), Mrs Khuzwayo (district commissioner of the Girl Guides), and teachers Mrs Mkhwanazi, Mrs Nyawo, Miss Nene, Miss Khuzwayo, Mrs Thwala and Mrs Dludla.

An interactive experience, the troops learnt how to crochet pencil cases, make hiking bags using recycled materials, bake scones from scratch, and cook with pots on a campfire.

Each day concluded with singing praise songs and playing traditional games to build camaraderie.

Additionally, attendees were educated on the history of guiding and scouting.

Before concluding the transformational excursion, Pastor Zwane shared the word of God with those who chose to visit the church before leaving.
