Close encounter for Hluhluwe resident who found Mozambique spitting cobra lurking in a pit toilet

Checking for snakes is not something most people would consider when heading to the loo, but for one Hhluhluwe resident, it became a startling reality.

Zime Maxase had the shock of her life when she found a Mozambique spitting cobra lurking in a pit toilet.

Zama Zwane, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park research technician, contacted local snake expert Donald Schultz of Snake Pharm for help.

“With these cold temperatures, the snakes are looking for warm spots. It’s prudent to check nooks and crannies, especially outdoor toilets, before sitting down” warned Schultz…
