Learners encouraged to participate in winter school programmes

KZN Education MEC extends best wishes to teachers and pupils during school holidays

Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka urged learners, especially matrics, to use their holiday time constructively by participating in winter support programmes available throughout KZN.

“These programmes are tailored to help our Grade 12 pupils consolidate their learning and boost their academic performance ahead of the final examinations,” he said.

Hlomuka extended his heartfelt wishes for a safe, restful and productive winter school holiday to all learners, educators, and school communities.

As schools close for the winter break, Hlomuka commended the resilience and dedication of learners and educators during the first half of the academic year.

Recognising that many learners may travel during the holidays, Hlomuka encouraged those who are away from their regular schools to continue prioritising their studies.

“Those who are away from their schools are encouraged to wear their school uniforms and attend winter classes closer to their holiday destinations,” he said.

Hlomuka said his department has ensured winter school classes are accessible and supported by experienced teachers in strategic locations across KZN.

The MEC added that these initiatives are part of the province’s broader commitment to improving learner outcomes and ensuring no child is left behind.
